A Bland visit

We had a great visit on Monday! Wish that we were able to visit more this week with everyone but what can I say....gotta go to school! I do hope that you all had a great time visiting with us & with the rest of the family, we always love when we have family over or go visit! Here are a few pictures (I didn't get that many, I'm sure you all got some good ones too! I can't wait to see them)

Kids "blowing off" their corn dogs after swimming because they were too hot! Some have imaginary corndogs!

"Hey, where's my corndog?"
Look at that cool guy!
How cute!
Look it's "the twins!"
******Silly face alert******
Taking after her big sis Maria loving kitty cats! Speaking of Maria some how she avoided all my shots! Must have been because she got to go with "her friend" Uncle Tim & Daddy to the store!

Well hope you enjoy the pictures. It's funny how whenever we get together there is always somebody that avoids the camera! Hope everyone's having a great week! Can't believe it's almost October! Happy Birthday to Karen & David (beth's) & to Wyatt! I decided I'd try to start adding Happy B-days at least once a month for everyone in that month(since I'd be surprised if I can do it on the actually bday haven't had much time to do anything!)

Love you all!
**I'm going to go ahead and apologize for any grammar or spelling mistakes! It's kinda late!

Wyatt's 1st B-day celebration

Wyatt & Daddy opening his present.

The first taste & he was all over that cake!

Playing with Wyatt's Bday present. He made the shot!

Wyatt & his daddy playing with his Bday present.

Had to show you how he always sits with his legs crossed (I guess that's as close to "Indian-style" as a 1 yr old can get.) Too cute!

Test Day

I took my first Test today........And I passed!!! Yipee! We haven't gotten our official grades back yet but we went over the answers after the test and from that I'm pretty sure I passed! Thanks so much everyone for your kind words & especially your prayers. I know that it helped. I was so nervous! They told us what the test is like ahead of time (format, etc.) but since if was the first one you don't really know for sure what to expect! And there was so much info on this test because it was intro-basic stuff we had to learn & get out of the way. The material for the next test is about half what was on this test. So.... I'm just glad it's over!!!

Ok, well thats it for now....my brain isn't functioning completely because of all studying and lack of sleep. Thanks again guys!

love ya!
Have a good rest of the week!

***Sorry for any grammatical stuff in this post, I spell check it. Read over it but I'm wouldn't be surprised if I looked over stuff!

Pre-clinical interview .....Today!!!

Just wanted to tell everyone that we had our pre-clinical interview today. This is an interview we have to do before we start clinicals at the nursing home next week. We will be at the nursing home for 3 weeks and then we are at the hospital.

We had to go into our on-campus clinical instructor's office (myself & my friend that I've meet since starting nursing, Nicole) we had to talk to the instructor and just tell her a few reasons why we wanted to be a nurse, if we had any family members that are nurses. She told us some info about the nursing home that we will be going to.

Then we had to answer a few questions....ie. what we are looking for during a patient's physical assessment, how we would listen to lung sounds, where to find the Apical pulse, etc.

After that my parter and I had to take turns and doing vital sings on each other to show the instructor that we knew how to do it (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration). The instructor said we did a very good job.

We were so nervous before going into the interview, afterwards we were glad it was over. She was really sweet though, just a little nerve racking because we didn't know exactly what to expect.

I've been busy getting papers & projects done ahead of time so that I won't have to worry about them. And studying.....between my Nursing classes, Pharmacology and Nutrition, and practicing different skills I've been busy! I actually just got signed off on my first skill the last Thursday, on Tube feeding. There is so much to learn.

FYI this is what I'm going to be doing in school (a short run-down of the program if you don't know) Nursing I (which I'm in this semester) focuses on the elderly and basic skills (that's why we are starting in the nursing homes & to ease us into it!) Nursing II which I start in Jan. lasts only about 2 months and focuses on the psychological area, working with adolescents and young adults. Nursing III is on more complex skills and we work with the middle-aged adults. Nursing IV (next August) focuses on Mothers and babies (I can't wait!) Then Nursing V focuses on critical care.

We have our first Nursing Exam next Weds. (be praying for me!) There are 75 questions and they are all multiple choice, but they give you different scenarios and you have to pick which answer fitsbest. There might be 2 answers that are right but we have to determine which is the best!! So I'm going to be studying all weekend!

Meg is getting ready to go to Rock the Universe tonight @ Universal. I wanted to go so bad...but decided against it this year. She's seeing Jars of Clay, Build 429 and a few other bands that I can't think of at the moment. Should be lots of fun!

Ok, well that's about it. Just wanted to give a little update on how things are going. Thanks for keeping me in your prayers & I miss you guys!

One more thing...Just wanted to thank my mom, dad, brother & sis for letting me practice on you!! I did my physical assessment on my mom, that I have to turn in. My dad was kind enough to offer is face for me to practice shaving (in case I have to do that in the nursing home/hospital) and his arm for blood pressure. Andrew & Meg for letting me listen to their lungs & BP etc. Thanks guys...you ROCK!

Cirque on Sunday

Meg & I, on Sunday outside Planet Hollywood before meeting the Bland's to see La Nouba @ Cirque...kind of a pre-birthday celebration

some quick shots outside after the show

Everyone after the show, minus Aunt K....she's got the copy of us all together! I'll have to get that one from her.

We had a lot of fun at dinner. It was yummy & the show was great (I don't think I could get tried of seeing it). We had such a great time visiting. Big thanks to Uncle D and Aunt K for inviting us & for the yummy dinner.
