I'm back!

I know that these pictures have been very much anticipated....(sorry but I am in nursing school ;) lol! I had Nutrition test last week & a Pharm test this week & Nursing test next week plus a paper due! Yeah, so I'm busy......but did want to add a few of the pictures we shot on Wyatt's last visit.
We had such a good time visiting with him. It was a really great time. He's getting so big & what a sweetie & cutie pie! He say's "DaDa" to Andrew....now if only I can get him to get "Jess-ica" down....actually "Caca" is fine with me (we'll work on it! ;) {That's what Chloe used to call me.} But yeah, he's getting so big. He pretty much has the whole walking concept down....he was doing really good for all of us, walking back & forth....just a little bit more & he'll have it!
Well like I said just wanted to share these pics with you all. Hope you all are well! Miss you & really hope to see you soon!
Wyatt being silly......(what a cutie!)

Someone's getting into grandma's CDs.....

and the choice is.....

not bad....Pink Floyd!
[I absolutely love comments!! *hint*hint]

Whoever reads this....
I am going to be having my 1st full day at the hospital following an RN on Friday. I'm kind of apprehensive because this will be more than we've really done at all. So if you could keep me in your prayers on Friday that would be great! Thanks guys!

Look what I can do....

This is from the Denver - Kansas City game. I was watching it (of course) and was joking around about how stupid the signals for penalties are. This one reminded me of when you were a kid and you use to pat your head and rub your tummy...Can you do that??? LoL so I snapped a pic!
Ok...I thought it was funny anyway! Here's another one:
Hmmmm...Where have I seen this before????

Oh yeah...that's what the cheerleaders do!!!!

That's nice....steal from the cheerleaders!!! Real original!
What do you think? Do you ever find those signals funny??

Look who it is!
Here's our class picture...got it off the nursing department website (in the photo gallery). Thought I would share that with you, even though you can't really see me that well! (it's a big class)

All the new FNSA members! (Geeze I look tall!) That was our orientation day it which was a big Hawaiian themed celebration that's why we have leis on...those are not uniform!

We had our first day at the hospital today. It was only orientation to the hospital, showing us around, etc. It was neat, kind of overwhelming because hospital patients are a lot different than nursing home residents! So it'll be an interesting week next week, when we are with our RN & the patients. (sigh)I'll let you know how it goes! Finally got past the last 2 weeks with 3 big test and a quiz....it's like everytime we turn around there's another test! Luckily NO tests next week, we do have a quiz...but hopefully that's not as bad!
Haven't had much down time so after clinicals today I thought I'd update for you guys!!! I like being able to write about what's going on even if no one read it! lol it's a 'stress reliever' or relaxation method for me. Ok well I'm counting down for Thanksgiving because that week I have no class or clinicals the entire week (since I have Fri. clinicals) so I really want to be able to visit with those up in St. aug. or something & just relax. Have a great weekend!! Love & miss you guys!
And Brooke let me know how your Mystery Bday party was!
Happy Birthday to the October people: Meg (of course, of course), Brooke, & Laura!!! I think that's it but if I missed anyone sorry & let me know!!!!

It's my bald eagle friend!!!
This is a picture of a bald eagle that I took the other day on the way to school. It's the funniest story. When I was a "nanny" for Chloe & Kasey over 1 year (or is it 2 years now?) ago I would see this bald eagle sitting on this electric pole on my way to pickup Kasey from school atleast once a week. He would sitting on the same pole everytime I'd see him.

Well, after I stopped being there nanny I didn't go on that rode and had seen him since. I recently started taking that rode on the way to my school(it's a back "shortcut road") and the other morning when I was driving that way to school I looked up and it was my friend the bald eagle.
I told myself the next day to bring my camera & if he was there again I'd try to get a pic! To my amazement the next morning he was just sitting there on the pole again! I was so surprised to see him again since it was so long ago that I had first seen him. They have even started construciton for a new housing development right across the street from the pole & he was still sitting on that pole. I thought it was so crazy and very cool! So I call him my bald eagle friend.
I was so glad to finally be able to take a picture of him (because before I didn't have a camera) to show my mom because I'd always come home and tell her "I saw him again today!" So that was very neat! Thought I'd share the pictures with you guys too! (sorry couldn't get any closer yes I have zoom but those poles are high!!!)
A couple other shots....

Heres the picture of him without the zoom or the photo crop!!

A Bland visit
We had a great visit on Monday! Wish that we were able to visit more this week with everyone but what can I say....gotta go to school! I do hope that you all had a great time visiting with us & with the rest of the family, we always love when we have family over or go visit! Here are a few pictures (I didn't get that many, I'm sure you all got some good ones too! I can't wait to see them)
Kids "blowing off" their corn dogs after swimming because they were too hot! Some have imaginary corndogs!
"Hey, where's my corndog?"
Look at that cool guy!
How cute!
Look it's "the twins!"
******Silly face alert******
Taking after her big sis Maria loving kitty cats! Speaking of Maria some how she avoided all my shots! Must have been because she got to go with "her friend" Uncle Tim & Daddy to the store!
Well hope you enjoy the pictures. It's funny how whenever we get together there is always somebody that avoids the camera! Hope everyone's having a great week! Can't believe it's almost October! Happy Birthday to Karen & David (beth's) & to Wyatt! I decided I'd try to start adding Happy B-days at least once a month for everyone in that month(since I'd be surprised if I can do it on the actually bday haven't had much time to do anything!)
Love you all!
**I'm going to go ahead and apologize for any grammar or spelling mistakes! It's kinda late!

Wyatt's 1st B-day celebration
Wyatt & Daddy opening his present.

The first taste & he was all over that cake!

Playing with Wyatt's Bday present. He made the shot!

Wyatt & his daddy playing with his Bday present.

Had to show you how he always sits with his legs crossed (I guess that's as close to "Indian-style" as a 1 yr old can get.) Too cute!

Test Day
I took my first Test today........And I passed!!! Yipee! We haven't gotten our official grades back yet but we went over the answers after the test and from that I'm pretty sure I passed! Thanks so much everyone for your kind words & especially your prayers. I know that it helped. I was so nervous! They told us what the test is like ahead of time (format, etc.) but since if was the first one you don't really know for sure what to expect! And there was so much info on this test because it was intro-basic stuff we had to learn & get out of the way. The material for the next test is about half what was on this test. So.... I'm just glad it's over!!!
Ok, well thats it for now....my brain isn't functioning completely because of all studying and lack of sleep. Thanks again guys!
love ya!
Have a good rest of the week!
***Sorry for any grammatical stuff in this post, I spell check it. Read over it but I'm wouldn't be surprised if I looked over stuff!

Pre-clinical interview .....Today!!!
Just wanted to tell everyone that we had our pre-clinical interview today. This is an interview we have to do before we start clinicals at the nursing home next week. We will be at the nursing home for 3 weeks and then we are at the hospital.
We had to go into our on-campus clinical instructor's office (myself & my friend that I've meet since starting nursing, Nicole) we had to talk to the instructor and just tell her a few reasons why we wanted to be a nurse, if we had any family members that are nurses. She told us some info about the nursing home that we will be going to.
Then we had to answer a few questions....ie. what we are looking for during a patient's physical assessment, how we would listen to lung sounds, where to find the Apical pulse, etc.
After that my parter and I had to take turns and doing vital sings on each other to show the instructor that we knew how to do it (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration). The instructor said we did a very good job.
We were so nervous before going into the interview, afterwards we were glad it was over. She was really sweet though, just a little nerve racking because we didn't know exactly what to expect.
I've been busy getting papers & projects done ahead of time so that I won't have to worry about them. And studying.....between my Nursing classes, Pharmacology and Nutrition, and practicing different skills I've been busy! I actually just got signed off on my first skill the last Thursday, on Tube feeding. There is so much to learn.
We have our first Nursing Exam next Weds. (be praying for me!) There are 75 questions and they are all multiple choice, but they give you different scenarios and you have to pick which answer fitsbest. There might be 2 answers that are right but we have to determine which is the best!! So I'm going to be studying all weekend!
Meg is getting ready to go to Rock the Universe tonight @ Universal. I wanted to go so bad...but decided against it this year. She's seeing Jars of Clay, Build 429 and a few other bands that I can't think of at the moment. Should be lots of fun!
Ok, well that's about it. Just wanted to give a little update on how things are going. Thanks for keeping me in your prayers & I miss you guys!
One more thing...Just wanted to thank my mom, dad, brother & sis for letting me practice on you!! I did my physical assessment on my mom, that I have to turn in. My dad was kind enough to offer is face for me to practice shaving (in case I have to do that in the nursing home/hospital) and his arm for blood pressure. Andrew & Meg for letting me listen to their lungs & BP etc. Thanks guys...you ROCK!

FYI this is what I'm going to be doing in school (a short run-down of the program if you don't know) Nursing I (which I'm in this semester) focuses on the elderly and basic skills (that's why we are starting in the nursing homes & to ease us into it!) Nursing II which I start in Jan. lasts only about 2 months and focuses on the psychological area, working with adolescents and young adults. Nursing III is on more complex skills and we work with the middle-aged adults. Nursing IV (next August) focuses on Mothers and babies (I can't wait!) Then Nursing V focuses on critical care.

Cirque on Sunday
Meg & I, on Sunday outside Planet Hollywood before meeting the Bland's to see La Nouba @ Cirque...kind of a pre-birthday celebration

some quick shots outside after the show

Everyone after the show, minus Aunt K....she's got the copy of us all together! I'll have to get that one from her.

We had a lot of fun at dinner. It was yummy & the show was great (I don't think I could get tried of seeing it). We had such a great time visiting. Big thanks to Uncle D and Aunt K for inviting us & for the yummy dinner.

Hurricane Katrina

New Orleans
I just wanted to put out this site for anyone that would like to help out Hurricane Katrina victims. Watching the news I feel like I need to be there doing something to help all these millions (?) of people.(too bad I don't have my RN license yet!) I'm sure many of you feel the same. For me this is a great way of helping out, along with my prayers. Even thought I can't be there in person to help out.
If you go to Samaritan's Purse you can donate any amount that you feel lead to give. (Billy Graham's son Franklin Graham is the president.)I can't imagine what these people are going through.
*Thanks Karen for the info.

*****Prayer Request*****
Saturday, August 20, 2005
Since I start classes on Tuesday
I thought I'd share a few pictures of me (from Friday, the day of our "big" orientation) because this is probably the last that you'll see of me inawhile!
:( This is the uniform that I will have to wear once a week to our clinicals at the hospital.

I know it's going to be tough and I'll miss having a life & seeing all you guys (often) but in the end it will all be worth it (I'm sure it'll be over before I know it). Thanks for all your continued prayers & support! You all are the greatest! (And Rob thanks for the stethoscope)

Does this look familiar?

Some of you might have seen this on Yahoo's most emailed pictures. Well, after looking at this picture for a minute it occurred to me that it resembles something that is very prevalent around this time of year. Floridians especially should find this familiar looking!
Anyone notice it too? What does it remind you of??? Comment with your answers!!!

"They love me they really love me!!!"
PS I started posting info on my trip earlier and will do more tomorrow (planning on it)

My Favorite!! The Magnum XL-200 at Cedar Point amusement park/resort is considered by many to be one of the ultimate scream machines on the planet. In 2001, the Magnum XL-200 was voted No. 3 in the "Best Steel Roller Coaster in the World" category in a poll conducted by Amusement Today, an international publication that covers amusement and water park news and trends. Standing 205 feet tall, this fan favorite provides riders with unparalleled thrills, action-packed hills and tons of "airtime!" ride.
